If you are reading this post, there is a chance you have reached that time of year where you have been assigned the dreaded final essay. However, look no further, here is a quick and easy step by step process to help you write your essay.

Introduction

This should be the first paragraph in your essay where you tell the reader what you are writing about. Start with a witty and catching opening sentence that will hook your reader into wanting to read the rest of your essay. After this, you want to introduce your thesis statement, think summarizing your entire essay into one sentence, what are you writing about and why does it matter?


Body Paragraphs

The amount of body paragraphs included in your essay can very tremendously, however they should all be set up the same way. Claim, evidence, reasoning. First, make a claim that supports your created thesis statement, provide direct evidence that supports this claim, and then in your own words, use reasoning to explain why this chosen piece of evidence supports your claim and thesis statement.


Conclusion

Wrapping it all up, you want to begin your conclusion my summarizing all of the claims that you made in your body paragraphs. Think, "As you can see, due to the fact that, claim A, claim B, claim C, etc. After you summarize your claims, the last sentence of your conlcusion should be your thesis statement. "Because of this, (thesis)." And that, my friend, is how to write your standard essay.
